Position: 2nd Shift Quality Team Leader
Responsible for overseeing the Quality Departments hourly employees and assist with problem solving. Ensure quality products are delivered to customers and address customer concerns and issues. The department is structured as a formal team and requires the ability to work within the team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Assist in maintaining customer satisfaction through the use of plant quality assurance methods.
- Review product quality issues through direct communication with employees to ensure knowledge of changes in procedures and standards.
- Serve as a cross-functional team member with tasks such as Control Plans, FMEA’s, 8D’s, etc.
- Assist in the implementation of Quality Alerts.
- Respond immediately to quality concerns within or outside the plant addressing the defect, cause, resolution, and verification used to correct the concern (8D).
- Lead a group of employees, oversee work activities, and engage in various forms of communication and judgment.
- Train employees in proper procedures and job skills.
- Coordinate and assist in the activities of wire weld testing in the Acid Etch, Receiving, Layout and Quality Auditor area.
- Enter data into the computer from paper documents for record keeping purposes.
- Red tag and create repair orders for non-conforming parts.
- Interface with the Quality Manager to address quality issues.
- Resolve customer issues at the customer level.
- Monitor first & last piece approvals for conformance.
- Implement and maintain IATF-16949 documentation for the assigned department.
- Problem solving.
- Continuous improvement activities support Red X / DOE activities.
- Various other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Education & Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent required with completion of established curriculum and/or demonstrated understanding of skills.
- Two – Four years of experience
Competencies
- Ability to follow established procedures.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Knowledge Statistical Process Control (SPC); GD&T with application and blueprint reading.
- Must be able to operate basic metrology instruments, optical comparator, hardness tester and Coordinate Measurement Machine.
- Calibration of equipment gages.
- Knowledge of welding specifications
- Problem Solving
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques.
- Perform sorts, audits or rework products.
- Knowledge of product and processes.
- Knowledge of Quality standards – AIAG/ASQC, ASME, IATF16949.
- Communication skills to communicate and interact with all levels of employees, customers and suppliers.
- Computer skills and math skills sufficient to perform department related tasks as required.
- Ability to work effectively with people.
Licensure
Valid driver’s license
Supervisory Responsibility
This position overseas a group of quality inspectors and/or technicians and is responsible for the performance management within that group.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a manufacturing environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The job requires very frequent visual effort and concentration, and the ability to move throughout the plant. The employee must lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. The work requires regular standing, walking, bending, lifting and a variety of physical activities. Travel to customer locations as needed.
